Baal-e-Jibril" (Bal-e-Jibril) Poems Translated into Punjabi

Abstract

Bal-e-Jibril is one of the most famous books of Allama Iqbal which was published in 1935. In this book he narrated Ghazals, poems, rubayat and Qitat. In Bal-e-Jibril there were some long poems like Masjid-e-Qurtaba, Saqinama and Zoqu Shoq however other poems were short. Asir Abid translated Bal-e-Jibril with the name of Jibril Odari in Punjabi which was published in 1995. Asir Abid's style was not only rhetorical but his Punjabi translation was appriciatable. Asir Abid translated Iqbal's poem in short and long seas. In these poems appropriate words were used which were narrated by Allama Iqbal's original text of Bal-e-Jibril. Allama Iqbal's poetry topics like, ego, love, indigence, comparison between intuitions and wisdom, bringing back towards Islam, impracticability of Sufi and Mulla, impacts of west to east were translated by Asir Abid as original text of Iqbal which were attractive.
