A Research Review of the Role of the Compilation and Editing of the Quran in Understanding the Quran

Abstract

Understanding the Quran and compiling and editing the Quran means that it has gone through several stages to preserve the meanings and concepts of the Quran and convey it to humanity, as the early Arabs understood it, and it was without dots, but when it got further and people started to find it difficult to understand, dots were added to it so that the real goal, which is to understand the Quran, could be achieved. With the passage of time, when people started making mistakes in Arabic after the dot, Arabic was added to preserve its meaning, and this whole work was completed from the era of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to the era of the Companions so that there was no room for doubt. After this comes the stage of collecting the Quran, and collecting the Quran means collecting the Holy Quran. Whether by memorization, writing, or recording the recitation.Compilation and Compiling of the Quran and Understanding The compilation of the Quran took place during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), while some say that there was no writing at that time, it was only preserved in the chests, although during that period it was written and scribes of revelation existed. Thus, the Holy Quran was preserved in a compiled form and in book form.The third period of the compilation and understanding of the Quran was the Ottoman era. During the Caliphate of Sayyiduna Uthman, Islam had spread from Arabia to the far reaches of Rome and Iran. New Muslims who were non-Muslims would learn the Quran from the fighters for Islam or Muslim traders, thanks to whom they would receive the blessings of Islam.The Quran was revealed in seven letters. The companions learned from the Prophet (peace be upon him) according to different recitations. Therefore, each companion taught his student in the same way as he himself learned from the Prophet (peace be upon him). Thus, the differences in recitations reached distant countries and disputes began to arise among people.
